Luke Wookey is Clinical Director and Transgender Health GP at Indigo Gender Service, the UK’s first primary care-led service for transgender health. As a founding clinician, he has been instrumental in shaping Indigo’s development and expansion, with a strong focus on safe, effective, and equitable care for trans and non-binary patients.
He has over 20 years’ experience in the NHS and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester, where he co-leads the LGBTQ+ Affirmation Programme and has led work to embed transgender health into the undergraduate curriculum. He has presented nationally and internationally, including at EPATH, and in 2024 advised the Irish government on Indigo’s model of care. He is on the official gov.uk list of gender dysphoria specialists and is committed to reducing health inequalities faced by the LGBTQ+ community.
Dr Wookey enjoys hiking, travelling and running. He will be completing the Manchester half marathon on the Sunday after BAGIS.
