Training and registers

Training in gender medicine

Modern gender healthcare services should involve a range of professionals (including doctors, nurses, speech and language therapists) and subspecialities (including primary care, sexual health, general medicine) working as a multidisciplinary team.

Training in gender identity medicine currently involves hands on observation and experience at a gender identity service, as well as undertaking the Royal College of Physicians Professional Certificates for Gender Identity Healthcare Professionals .

If you think gender identity medicine could be for you, then please contact us at secretary@bagis.co.uk with the name of your nearest gender identity service from the list below. We can then link you with a member of the service responsible for training, to arrange a period of observation:

BAGIS Medico Legal Register

BAGIS Council are aware of an increasing number of medicolegal cases related to trans healthcare in the UK. In order to support our members, we have built a bank of individuals who are willing to provide expert testimony if required by another member.

This resource is not currently intended to be used for service users seeking medico legal representation.

To be linked with a medicolegal expert member, please email secretary@bagis.co.uk with the following:

–    Full name

–    Profession

–    Professional Body you are registered with

–    Expertise required

–    Preferred contact email

We will then match you with a suitable medicolegal expert member and provide their details to you.
