Inclusive care and regulatory challenges
We are in a period of uncertainty and fear for transgender people and for the institutions that support them. This is epitomised by proposed changes to the EHRC Code of Practice, which threaten to radically alter inclusion in healthcare, set against a global context of political backlash against equality and diversity initiatives.
This short presentation combines quantitative and qualitative data from our support services with a broader analysis of the political context to identify current barriers to care in the trans community and explore how institutions like the NHS can navigate them and provide non-discriminatory, inclusive care even in the face of statutory or regulatory challenges.
