Evaluating Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in Masculinising Top Surgery with GENDER-Q
Measuring patient-reported outcomes is a key element of evaluating the quality and effectiveness of gender-affirming surgery. The GENDER-Q is a validated, surgery-specific patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) designed to assess outcomes in gender-affirming care. This project represents the first reported use of the GENDER-Q PROM to evaluate postoperative outcomes following top surgery in a UK NHS setting. The initial results suggest that the GENDER-Q is a feasible and effective tool for capturing meaningful patient-reported outcomes. Further work is planned to assess its role in long-term follow-up and to integrate its use across the surgical pathway.
