British Association of Gender Identity Specialists
Symposium Speakers Policy
All speakers should give careful thoughts to the language they use during the conference. It should be respectful of trans people, their perspectives and those of other colleagues.
The association expects speakers to adhere to the following guidance, developed by the European Professional Association of Transgender Healthcare, which can be viewed here.
Members and Non-Members
For members and non-members who have an abstract accepted, the association will not refund the costs of travel or accommodation, except in the case of those delivering parallel workshops.
All presenters should register for the conference and make a payment, via the website, as usual.
There is no reduction in symposium fees for these groups.
In the case of association members who present a workshop, who will have the following year’s membership waived. This decision was taken because they are unable to attend the entirety of the conference. They should apply for membership as usual and their fees will be refunded.
External Invited Speakers
Fees for the conference are waived for external speakers, who have been invited to speak.
External speakers should contact the treasurer to discuss their plans, prior to the event. Do not make any accommodation or travel bookings without contacting her. Click here to email.
There are three postgraduate presenters slots. The conference fees are waived for these presenters, who can attend the whole conference if they wish. They receive a £100 grant, towards travel and accommodation. The association does not offer further refund of the costs incurred.
